Which CCNA exam version is current?
200-301 CCNA v1.1 is the live exam. Cisco’s roadmap sets February 2, 2027 as the last v1.1 test date and February 3, 2027 as the first v2.0 test date, and the exam code stays 200-301.

What leaves and what arrives
Read the two topic lists against each other and the route changes in specific places. This is our comparison of Cisco’s v1.1 and v2.0 topic lists.
New or deeper in v2.0
- Open Shortest Path First version 3 (OSPFv3) configuration next to single-area OSPFv2, plus reading Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) status
- switched virtual interfaces (SVIs), Power over Ethernet (PoE) on edge ports, and packet capture as a troubleshooting tool
- DHCP server configuration, SFTP and SCP file handling, and diagnosing DNS record types
- storm control and IPv6 Router Advertisement (RA) guard in the Layer 2 security topic
- agentic AI in network operations, choosing a generative AI prompt, and running commands with Ansible
Absent from the v2.0 list
- NTP, QoS per-hop behavior, TFTP and FTP
- the wireless LAN controller GUI items and the AP modes topic
- REST APIs, JSON and Terraform
- BPDU filter in the Rapid PVST+ topic
Some of these stay useful as background for the topics that remain. Cisco’s own summary of the change is narrower: v2.0 adds “practical assessments” and “more troubleshooting tasks” (Cisco Learning blog, July 1, 2026). The diagnose and troubleshoot verbs that run through the v2.0 list point the same way.
Books and editions
The Cisco Press CCNA 200-301 Official Cert Guide, Volumes 1 and 2, second edition (Wendell Odom; Volume 2 with co-authors), is the v1.1 edition, published in 2024. Odom expects third editions for v2.0 in early 2027, by his own estimate (certskills.com). The CCNA study materials comparison lists editions and other prep options with dated facts.
